Sustainability

Sustainability Program Overview

As one of the oldest ports in the United States, the Port of Baltimore has a long history of delivering economic prosperity through trade. For generations, MPA has been committed to supporting Maryland’s vitality and upholding port traditions and history while also making important sustainability advancements under the fundamental principle that stewardship, environmental and economic sustainability, and protecting employees and public health are essential components of our mission.

From sound environmental practices and the use of clean-diesel equipment to enhancing wildlife habitat and bolstering community well-being, MPA is actively pursuing its commitment to a thriving and sustainable port and has been building momentum toward a unified, long-term Sustainability Strategy. To this end, MPA recently established and filled a Sustainability Manager position to strengthen all aspects of sustainability across the agency and to foster new opportunities for partnering with tenants to compound the benefits of efficient, thoughtful solutions.
