Edward McDonald

Mr. Edward McDonald

Ed McDonald enjoyed a long and distinguished career in public service. He most recently served as chief of staff for the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) from 2015 through 2019. In that role, Edward was a senior executive for a state agency that employed more than 11,000 people and oversaw Maryland’s highways, transit, bridges and tunnels, motor vehicles, Baltimore/Washington International Airport, and the Port of Baltimore.

Prior to joining MDOT, Mr. McDonald served as chief of staff for U.S. Representative Howard Coble. He worked in this role since 1988, separated in 2003 when he worked as deputy chief of staff for former Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich. Mr. McDonald also served Representative Coble as his press secretary from 1985 though 1988.

Before transitioning into public service, Mr. McDonald was a news director at two radio stations in Greensboro, North Carolina and a reporter at a station in Oneonta, New York.

Mr. McDonald is a graduate of Towson University. He is currently the vice president of the Towson University Alumni Association and a board member of the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum.​​​
